Import your Service Bus entities from XML
Bring a whole namespace into Dispatched, and export it back.
Dispatched reads and writes XML entity exports in the widely used ServiceBusExplorer format. A file holds queues, topics and subscriptions with all their settings, SQL and correlation rules, and SAS policies, with or without their keys.
Import a file
- Run Import entities from XML… from the command palette (⌘K or Ctrl+K), or
dispatched entity import namespace.xml. - Check the preview: every queue, topic, subscription, rule and policy in the file. A file that can't be read is refused as a whole, before anything is created.
- Confirm once. Queues are created first, then topics, then subscriptions with their rules. On production, you type each entity's name.
Existing entities
- An entity that already exists is skipped, and the report says so.
- With Replace existing entities (
--overwrite), the file's settings are applied on top of the existing entity; settings the file does not mention are kept. - A policy without keys in the file keeps its existing keys, so importing an export never rotates keys that clients use.
Export
Export entities writes the namespace, or the entities you choose, to the same format: dispatched entity export --out namespace.xml. Keys are left out unless you ask for them, and a file with keys is saved readable only by you.
